Day 28 - My Heaven

We celebrated Easter out at my grandparents farm today. I love this farm and of course I love my grandparents. Around sunset I set off across the soggy fields to capture what I love most about it. It's amazingly hard to capture how I feel about this place. I wanted to take a whole picture of everything at once because I love every piece of it, but that would have lacked in composition. Not to mention it's not very pretty there right now since everything is still dead. I could have stood out there all night long and listened to the sound of nothing though. It's so peaceful and I think this is what Heaven might be like.

Day 141 - hear the train

Spokane was founded because of it's train tracks. Sometimes it's such a pain to get stuck waiting for one to pass, but most of the time they make me feel nostalgic. From my house I can hear the whistle blow. Probably from almost anywhere in the city it can be heard. My sister used to live so close to the tracks that the walls would rattle (this was in her younger days). I would sometimes stay the night at her house. You would think the sound would be awful, but somehow it was comforting. On my way home from a photoshoot I saw this train crossing our wonderful city. I got out and climbed up on this hill and hopped a fence because I knew exactly what I wanted this to look like. enjoy. :)

Day 101 - BIG!

This dandelion was HUGE! As big as her head almost. Of course everytime I clicked the shutter she stopped blowing. I think she does it on purpose, lol.

Day 20 - a lot from a little

I was standing where the water is in this shot.

I'm surprised at how little water there is in the river right now. I walked well past where the end of the dock was. With all the snow we had melting and the rain we've gotten in the last few days I would have thought this would be really full and running fast. I guess they have the damn closed. Even though I was expecting lots of moving water, I'm still happy with this shot. Just a little farther out the water was moving really quickly, but it felt too dangerous to venture out that far. I have a few others from tonight, but not sure if I'll use any of them. We'll see. :)

Day 122 - Hay

We went huckleberry picking today in the mountains. I got bit my a million mosquitoes, but we got some yummy huckleberries. Those things are like gold. You'll never see so many people in the mountians crawling around in the woods. LOL.

Later, I drove down the freeway to this spot. There is a small store here that sells fresh produce. The owners just happened to be driving by while we were there so we asked if we could go out in their field to take pictures. They didn't mind at all and gave us a couple of fresh cucumbers to take home with us too. They were so nice. :)

Day 77 - saying hello OR telling me off

wonder what he's thinking as he stares back at me...

these humming birds are sooooo tiny and BRAVE! I took this with a wide angle lens if you can believe it. I could have reached out and touched this little guy.

went out to my aunts and had a day of riding 4 wheelers, riding horses and eating yummy hamburgers. now that's what I call a great day!

you can see another shot from the same angle here

Day 15 - Appreciate Now

I used to live right across the street from this exact spot. It was a cute little condo that I owned. I bought it for $45,000 (I'm serious) and they are now selling for $85,000. At the time all I could think about was how much I couldn't stand living in this city. I wanted to go back to California. I look back on it now and I wish I would have appreciated it then. It's such a beautiful location. To be able to walk a few seconds and be right in front of the river is an amazing thing.

When I think a bit more about not appreciate that condo and that view, I realize I do that a lot in my life. I almost never see the beauty around me until I don't have it anymore. It's something I really want to change about myself. It's sad to realize that I'm like this and also sad to look back at what I had and didn't appreciate.
