Day 131 - party guest

it was my nieces 6th bday party today. we took them all to Riverfront Park for a few hours then back to my sisters house. We got them dressed up and did their hair, nails and makeup then took them out for dinner to Red Robin. After dinner and desert they got steamed milk from Starbucks and then danced on the dance floor (garage decorated with strobe light and streamers). It was so cute.

This is O, looking out the window watching for the other girls to arrive.

Day 14 - Sleep My Child

O hasn't been sleeping much lately. Well she never was a good sleeper, but lately she's been up as soon as the sun rises after not falling asleep until 10. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I cut up some boxes and shoved the cardboard into her windows until I can go get some shades for her windows. She slept until 9 (well, 10 technically, daylight savings) this morning, thank goodness, but as we speak she is laying next to me throwing a fit and crying. Sounds like an early bedtime coming to me.

Day 80 - zucchini chocolate chip cookies

a good way to sneak veggies into your kids diets. :P

1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar (I used regular sugar since I didn't have brown)
1/3 cup honey
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (I used almond extract, didn't have vanilla)
    Combine in large bowl
1 cup white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour (I just used another cup of white, didn't have whole wheat)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Combine in a separate, small bowl and blend into liquid mixture
1 cup finely shredded zucchini (the more the fine the less likely the kids will notice)
12 ounces chocolate chips
Stir these into other ingredients, mix well. Drop by spoonful onto greased baking sheet, and flatten with the back of spoon. Bake at 350, 10 to 15 minutes (my oven runs hot and is electric so I bake at 300 for 10 minutes)

Don't tell the kids what's inside!!! Actually my daughter saw me put the zucchini in and she still liked them. :)

Day 116 - forgotten

this carousel worked once upon a time. I told my grandpa that I wanted to take it home and fix it. I think its beautiful, he thinks it belongs at the dump. LOL. we'll see if I get around to restoring it. something will have to be done with the top because it's ripped. I think it's made of fiberglass.

day 149 - Mockingbird

I did a photoshoot tonight for a local childrens boutique. the clothes were Ahhh-dorable. especially these sweet little legwarmers.

they also had some cute boys clothes. a really good selection of not so typical boy stuff.

I'm having a heck of time with the color on these though. :(

Day 79 - me and my little friend

I invited friends to drive out to my grandparents farm today to see their 5 new kittens. They had a blast and the property is so green and lush right now. The grass was up to the kids chins. When the wind swept across the tall grass it was like the ocean. I could never capture how amazing it was.

PS - do you see the little friend? that was totally luck, didn't even see it until I opened it in photoshop.

everybody loves this texture and it's free, find it here!!

Day 57 - Soft

After feeling in a slump for a couple months I finally am starting to listen to the light again. I haven't completely climbed out, but I'm getting there. I am mostly inspired by the book I bought last night "Through The Lens" National Geographic Greatest Portraits and also looking through a site I found a long time ago that I really really loved. I'd forgotten about it, but I'm glad I found it again.

http://streetstudio.com/

I really want to try something like this street studio. I need to find out if I need a permit and some other things. I also really want to start the 100 strangers project. It's so hard for me to ask strangers if I can take their picture, but my portraits need work so I think it would be good for me.

Day 114 - jump
Stranger #4 - Jon Gaver

Meet Jon Gaver, 20 yrs old, been skateboarding for 7 years. He came to VBS to show the kids some cool tricks. I didn't know he was coming so was a little unprepared with my 50mm, but it worked out ok in the end.
